Art / Grades 6-8 / Period 4 / CF / 1T – 2T – 3T
Scope and Sequence:
Students will learn the fundamentals of art such as line, shape, form, value, texture, balance, composition, and introductory level color theory. Students will use a variety of media, including but not limited to graphite pencils, ebony pencils, charcoal, acrylic paint, chalk pastels and oil pastels to practice the various concepts being studied. Students will also be introduced to a variety of artists and their methods, while also learning about the artist’s life through reading short biographies and studying their place of origin, both in terms of geography as well as time period.
Grading: P/F Students must attend at least 80% of the class and demonstrate high level of participation to receive a passing grade

Materials Needed: students will be expected to come with their own sketch pad of choice, and graded graphite pencils (link included below). The sketch pad will be used by students on their own time for homework assignments, so this should be something that the student chooses according to their own preference and style.
