Introduction to Art 1

Scope and Sequence:

Students will be introduced to a variety of art forms as they are afforded weekly opportunities to explore various media such as chalk pastels, oil pastels, watercolor paint, ebony pencils, graphite, clay and textiles. This course is geared toward students who have had almost no formal art instruction, as it is intended to be a very broad, experiential overview of a wide range of approaches to art. Students will also be introduced to a variety of artists and their particular artistic methods throughout the trimester, as a very gentle introduction to art history combined with art theory. 

Grading: P/F Students must attend at least 80% of the class and demonstrate high level of participation to receive a passing grade
