Elementary Literature / 3-5 / Period 2 / KK / T1-T2-T3

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to classic and important children’s literature and to inspire them to understand and love it. This is a yearlong course where we study three (or four) books each trimester. Below are listed all the books with links. Note that these links lead to Amazon/EBay, but the books can be purchased “used” there or anywhere (just be sure it is the same length/ similar version. Students will learn and apply basic literature terms (characters, setting, plot, theme), as well as vocabulary from the stories.  There will be discussion, small projects, and quizzes (informally in class) to demonstrate learning. There will be reading and writing homework each week, and the class will be informally graded through a progress report. Parent help with reading and homework may be needed.
