Description
Science / Grades 8-10 / Period 7 / SAH / 1T
The first trimester of Exploring Creation with Physical Science, 2nd Edition begins with an introduction to atoms and molecules. We will explore the composition of air and the atmosphere, and then learn about the structure of water and the hydrosphere. There will be readings from the text, and from the Apologia website. Two hours of homework will be assigned weekly, and will include experiments from the textbook. Grades will be based on laboratory assignments (35%) and module tests (65%). Algebra is required. Students will be required to have a binder for laboratory reports, and access to a computer for readings. Parents are encouraged to check the Study Guide Questions in preparation for the module tests. An answer sheet will be given for this purpose. Students may decide to do extra reading during the Christmas break.
The second trimester continues with an exploration of the Earth and the lithosphere, and continues with factors that influence weather. We conclude with an introduction to the physics of motion, and Newton’s Laws.
The third trimester explores the four fundamental forces in creation, introduces the periodic table of the elements, and concludes with the nature of sound and light.
